Our rural village and slum populations, to a large extent, are still neglected with the absence of even the most basic facilities of healthcare, hygiene, nutrition or education.
The absence of job opportunities for the young people, illiteracy and growing health-related problems are becoming alarming. It is therefore important to make both the rural village and urban slum populations aware of their own potential. In providing healthcare programmes, organizing the Self Help Groups and running the Skill Building programmes the Ecumenical Sangam are successfully mitigating some of these problems.
In the light of the most urgent needs of the villagers and slum dwellers, the Ecumenical Sangam has embarked upon a number of developmental projects, which we would like to tell you about on the following pages.
